Oral Pathology and Maxillofacial Disorders

Oral pathology is the specialty of dentistry and discipline of pathology that deals with the nature, identification, and management of diseases affecting the oral and maxillofacial regions.

Oral health concerns and unexplained side effects can be unpleasant for patients. That is the reason our oral pathologists work hard to provide the most ideal patient experience, from the initial consultation through surgical recovery.

Warnings:

Since there are such countless sicknesses and abnormalities that fall under the umbrella of oral and maxillofacial pathology, the potential indications and cautioning signs are diverse.

For instance, some of the common symptoms of oral cancer include:

  • Ongoing throat touchiness or roughness.
  • Bruises or injuries inside the mouth.
  • Red or white patches on the inside cheeks or tongue.
  • Exorbitant draining of mouth bruises.

 

Goals:

  • Promote oral health awareness among general population and prevent oral diseases.
  • By participating in camps conducted by the department of community dentistry and educating the general public about various oral diseases such as oral cancer, dental caries, periodontal    disease etc. through talks, audio visual presentations, charts, models etc.
  • To facilitate learning and help the student gain sufficient knowledge on the development, structure and function of orofacial tissues and diseases of the orofacial region so that the student gains sound foundation to understand the common dental diseases and institute most appropriate treatment.
  • By combining traditional teaching techniques with innovative teaching method, and promoting student centered learning .Special attention on students who have difficulties in learning is placed.
